Sonic 1- The Starlight Zone is my favorite in terms of looks, followed closely by the Labyrinth Zone
Least favorite is Spring Yard, the weak early effort at the carnival/casino cliche

Sonic 2- Tie between Emerald Hill and Hill Top Zones
Least favorite is Mystic Cave because PIT OF DOOM

Sonic 3- This is a tough choice because they're all so amazing, but I'm gonna say the Marble Garden Zone, followed by the Launchbase Zone
Least favorite is Carnival Night, which is an awesome stage except for the BARRELS OF DOOM

Sonic and Knuckles- The Death Egg Zone in all its glory is probably my favorite classic stage. Sky Sanctuary comes in a very close second.
No least favorite.

Sonic CD- Tidal Tempest takes the prize. Soooooo pretty. Best theme in both region's soundtracks too. Probably the best water stage in the series, even better than Labyrinth Zone.
Least favorite is Wacky Workbench. Annoyingly difficult traps and nonsensical environments for the Little Planet.

Sonic Adventure- Another tough choice, but I think Sonic's Speed Highway is my favorite. I also like Lost World and Casinopolis.
Least favorite are Big's stages (no surprise there).

Sonic Adventure 2- Cosmic Wall for sure. Pumpkin Hill and Green Forest are great too.
Least favorite are the two kart stages.

Sonic Heroes- Hang Castle. Lots of cool stuff like the scenery switching gimmick, great atmosphere and level theme.
Least favorite is are the jungle stages, which have too much navigating around bottomless pit water.

Sonic Riders- Tie between Dark Desert and Dual Towers. Both beautiful stages.
No least favorite.

Sonic Advance- Probably Cosmic Angel, although I also like Hidden Base.
Least favorite is Ice Mountain.

Sonic Advance 2- Music Plant was the most creative stage in this game, and I got a real kick out its gimmicks when I played it for the first time. Leaf Forest and Sky Canyon are pretty cool too.
Least favorite is Hot Crater, which is a rather generic looking zone.

Sonic Advance 3- Sunset Hill, one of the most beautiful takes on the tropical zone cliche. Chaos Angel and Ocean Base are great too.
Least favorite is Toy Kingdom, a poor successor to Music Plant from the previous game.

Sonic Rush- Definitely Mirage Road. That soundtrack! Huge Crisis is pretty fun too.
Least favorite is Water Palace, a rather boring and frustrating stage.

Sonic and the Secret Rings- Evil Foundry takes the cake. Love its look, music, and level design.
Least favorite is Dinosaur Jungle. The heck is this stage even doing in the game?

Sonic Colors- Starlight Carnival! Soooo pretty and soooo much fun to play. Terminal Velocity and Asteroid Coaster were great too.
Least favorite is Sweet Mountain.

Levels themselves... these may seem a bit strange but:

Knuckles' Speed Highway - the music (At Dawn) and the atmosphere of all the businessmen going to work in the morning is really resonating. Especially because I work in the city, it brings me right back to playing when I was younger imagining what that sort of life was like...

Radical City and Regal Ruins from Sonic R - I could roam around these levels for hours in free-play mode

Pumpkin Hill (SA2) - this level was just sooo much fun!

I love the music from Ice Cap Zone.

I never played the game but I did like the remix with 50 Cent and The Game >_>

Dry Lagoon was always so magical to me as a kid. The atmosphere, the jazzy music, the butterflies... it helped create this serene little paradise, somewhere I'd really love to explore. I remember always wanting to swim in the water. Was also my sister's favourite, so I saw the stage pretty often.

I also really loved Wild Canyon. That stage makes me feel so nostalgic for the nights I would spend on the living room floor playing.

Casinopolis in SA1 was great fun. It's the kind of stage I really wish was longer, y'know? Also was my first introduction to NiGHTS.

I really liked grabbing onto the turtle, it amazed me first time! I loved the exploring in knux and rogues stages. I also really liked the areas having different names. Omochao would always say stuff like " :omochao: This is the lonely statue... he looks lonely!"
" :omochao: this is the jail cell " or something in dry lagoon, can't remember lol

Really added some history to the stages. Man Sonic Adventure 2 was such a great game

My top five levels from any Sonic games:

#5: Green Hill Zone
It's used too much these days. What with it being reused in Generations, Forces, Mania, and even Adventure 2!

#4: Seaside Hill
I can't help but feel waves of nostalgia when I see hear that music... At least, until Tails butts in.

#3: Route 99
The first stage + hub world in Sonic Advance 3 is on this list because Sonic Advance 3 was the first 2D Sonic game I played.

#2: Emerald Hill Zone
Why does SEGA always use Green Hill over and over again? Did they forget that Emerald Hill exists? Maybe.

#1: Pumpkin Hill
Everyone knows this stage because of it's awesome music. I could listen to that theme for hours on end and not get tired of it. That and I tend to be surprised when I see the ghost pop out when I attack certain robots in the stage.

And definitely last: Every stage in Sonic '06.
The only reason I bought the game was because I heard that the glitches you could pull off were fun at times.

:darkno: I'm going to be honest that I never finished Sonic Adventure 2 because of that stupid egg beetle from one of Rouge's stages. Traumatizing, ugh. I guess I can say that Dry Lagoon is my favorite stage in SA2. Honestly everything Rouge is an immediate favorite. :darksway:
For Sonic Adventure DX, it's hard to say. I think the ones I don't like are Hot Shelter and Sky Deck, but really that's it. Hmm... I think I'd choose Casinopolis as my favorite. I really like casinos.
For Sonic in general...
:darkhappy: HALLOWEEN STAGES! :darkhappy:
(No, seriously, I really like them.)
Under my rule, everyday is halloween! :darkhappy:

My favorite levels to speed run are City Escape and Metal Harbor, though Green Forest is one of my favorites to run through and explore different routes. For treasure hunt stages, Pumpkin hill and an unpopular opinion, Egg Quarters (yes the one with the beetle robot). Something's just thrilling about hiding in the shadows from the beetle robot.
