A Ranking all of Crazy Gadget, Sky Rail, and Mad Space in the same day was pretty boss.
Once you've mastered Crazy Gadget, the universe is your plaything.

^I never mastered Crazy Gadget (because I never got around to it), but beating City Escape a 800+ times will also let you control the universe.
My most prestigious A Rank is probably... Security Hall. No, not the first mission. The first mission is pretty easy at this point. I mean Mission 3.
I don't know if I missing some shortcut, but for some reason I almost always get a B on that mission.
That or Metal Harbor's 4th Mission.
Metal Harbor is the world's most meticulous level. It only gets harder when you can be a few seconds off at the end. And I like that. Everything after '06 stopped trying remotely, unfortunately.
Also, Fun Fact: It's literally impossible to get a B Rank or lower on mission 5 of Route 101 and 280. There's not enough time, you have to get an A.

^Most hard modes in SA2 are like that; if you can't A Rank it, you can't finish it.
Metal Harbor is a beach. You have to know exactly how to time all your moves to A Rank it, and if you don't navigate the rocket platform *perfectly* you can't win.

I don't think I've ever gotten an A rank on the first completion of any Hard Mode mission before actually. (Other than the kart levels, of course.)
I've gotten Bs at best, but I think my Rank for Eternal Engine is like D or something. I didn't care, I just wanted the Chao racing kart for finishing all for Tails' missions.

I was so happy when I finally A ranked Route 280 Mission 4, which took me ALOT of attempts. I can't go too fast, and at the same time, I can't go slow either.
Obviously by now, I got all the 180 emblems in the PSN version of SA2B.
Oh yeah, I was also happy when I finally A ranked Crazy Gadget Mission 5. I died from the enviorment LOTS of times in M5

From my experience, Pyramid Cave Mission 1-5 A ranks were actually not so hard to achieve since I just stuck to the main plan:Mooncow wrote:I remember Pyramid Cave took me ages!
Get as much hoops as possible, and combos on those annoying robots. For Mission 1, at the part with the checkpoint and the hourglass that leads down the corridor filled with hoops and Boom Boos, on your first trip, ignore the hourglass and go down only to get the most hoops you can get, then after you return back up via the hole in the ground near the timed door, go down again but use the hourglass and hightail it down there, like there is no tomorrow, because those Boom Boos HAVE a tendency to take away time if you happen to run into one of those dastardly phantoms
How was that? Perfect, like me?

Pumpkin Hill. I wasn't even going in there to A-rank it. I was Skeleton Dog grinding when I got the first piece. Then the second came into radar. Before I knew it, I A-ranked Pumpkin Hill, a big improvement from the initial E-Rank.

Re: Which level where you most proud of when you A-ranked it?
I've got most of the missions on Route 101 and Route 280 at A Rank, so getting them or let alone just managing to complete all ten of those missions was a huge relief since those levels are hell to someone with terrible karting skills like I am.
Though, if I can ever manage to get an A on Metal Harbour's first mission (I have only managed to get to the top part of the launch pad in time once, and even then I screwed up the item boxes so I couldn't get enough rings to get the A-Rank) and missions 1 and 4 of Mad Space then it'll be a blessing.

Re: Which level where you most proud of when you A-ranked it?
Just got the A rank on the Metal Harbor first mission today via a perfect ring count so that's pretty dang cool... but of course, to get all the rings, you have to go all the way to the top on that god forsaken missile. RIP can't believe how many times I was literally half a second a way from the spring that would shoot me up to the handle. It's probably the first A rank that has actually made me feel a little like a Certified SA2 Pro when I completed it.

A Ranking the "don't hit the walls" mission on Route 280...
Especially since that A Rank got me 180 Emblems!

Mad Space mission 5. Felt like crying after that one.
It's still thinking...
Re: Which level where you most proud of when you A-ranked it?
Metal Harbor First Mission. I was always confused how you could speed through the whole mission and still end up with an E. I decided to collect all of the rings and A-Ranked it that way. I had no idea there was a higher part of the rocket you could get to before I looked up a level guide.
But I would walk 500 miles and I would walk 500 more

Re: Which level where you most proud of when you A-ranked it?
I for some reason have always been really, REALLY bad at getting A Ranks in any Sonic game apart from Shadow the Hedgehog (because I understand how the scoring system works), Sonic 06 (because that game for some reason is a bit too generous in terms of ranks), and Generations (because it's not that hard). In SA2, the only stage to this day that I have all A Ranks in is Pumpkin Hill, and that's mainly because I found ways to cheat the Lost Chao Mission, and I memorized the locations of the Emerald Shards in the Hard Mode.

I distinctly remember playing Cannon's Core Hard Mode for hours upon hours upon hours when I was a teeny, tiny child. The gratification I had after getting it is simply unmatched,

When I got A rank in cannons core, I remember I used to play it a lot and learn the routes and techniques to get the best score. The most important part is getting full lock on combos for each bomb robot in tails' and eggman's sections, as they give around 1500 each extra ^^
