Perverted Anime Games
Perverted Anime Games
I never really understood why these games get the kind of hate I see out of people honestly.

I dunno anything bout that, on account I ain't played no new game since like 2009 or something, but Yandere Simulator will have an actual story when it's finished so its not just a murder simulator even though that's admittedly what the name amounts to.

Ivo, I consider you to be a great person.
Yandere Simulator has a lot of signs of going to **** judging by the developer alone and his actions and continued actions, save yourself from that disappointment.

Re: Perverted Anime Games
from my point of view, i dislike anime dating games or otherwise lewd anime themed games because it's kind of overused. for every general anime game where you probably date a plethora of different girls, there's another game that hasn't been made that could have more thought and variety put into it. i'd be satisfied if an attempt at more different approaches and stuff was made, maybe a monster dating game. maybe a dating game that has more going on for it like fighting and other mechanics instead of clicking through text boxes. the abundance of uninteresting anime based nsfw games just bores me into not even paying attention to the related genres because there's nothing i'm interested in. not to mention there's already so little good nsfw games to even do anything with.

@Triert
I disagree, I think a lot of what was drudged up about him is stuff that reflected the kind of person he was but not necessarily a reflection of who he is now. He hasn't done anything during the development of the game that struck me as red flags of him still being that awful dude.
Of course, when it comes to the content of the game you might disagree and say that he's a fetishist who wants to bang high school anime girls, but ultimately I can't fault him on it because there are so many anime, visual novels, video games, etc that all do the same exact thing and have been doing the same exact thing for years. We praise EVA for being such a deep and interesting show, yet we don't fault it for its portrayal of a kid nutting to another kid who's sleeping. Where are the outcries toward Hideaki Anno for this scene? Senran Kagura has plenty of sexualized 15-18 year olds in it, but it gets the free pass by most people if not a few disgusting stares by those who don't play those type of games. Don't even get me started on the visual novels either, there are so so so many things in the VN community that edge on straight up pedophilia.
Oh but heck, panty shots? That's where we cross the line. That's just gross fetishist behavior right there. What a pervert.

@ pump: i mean no visual novel is somehow taking the place of a game of a different genre. its not like for every sakura game there is, a super mario game had to die. also visual novels/dating sims are far from thoughtless, just different focus.

Part of me is hoping you didn't give this project any money Fox, sunken cost is a pain.

Nah I haven't, but I've thought about it. He's making progress and no big promises that seem out of scope for the game he's creating.

Wait, people take issue with panty shots? Part of me has trouble comprehending that, especially when I can think of in-tact panty shots from the days when the censors ran ram-shot over every non-****** that got dubbed. Not to mention that the game that originally gave us Chao got an E for everyone despite having a playable 12-year-old girl who frequently shows her panties to the player and the E-rated game that took Chao away teamed her up with a six-year-old who's just as prone, if not moreso, to showing her underwear and has these two girls as two-thirds of the team that was included as easy mode for the youngest section of the games target audience. Though, maybe there's some double standard on par with it being okay to see a girl in a skimpy bikini but perverted to see her in a modest set of bra and panties going on here.
As for "sexualizing high schoolers", I think it worth noting that a significant portion of high school students are over the age of 16, the most common age of consent in the US if I'm not mistaken, that 16+ makes up a larger portion of Japanese high schoolers since ninth grade is part of middle school across the pacific, and if that isn't enough for you, 18-year-old high school seniors aren't exactly uncommon. Though, speaking from a more biological sense, most humans undergo puberty between the ages of 10-13 if I'm not mistaken, placing most teenagers firmly in adolescence, so it's probably a reasonable heuristic to assume any middle schooler lacking a sex drive is a late bloomer and that any high schooler without a sex drive is either an outlier, has some kind of developmental abnormality in that area, or is asexual. So, are works that portray high school students as sexual creatures sexualizing that age group, or are they admitting the truth and making some attempt to avoid making everyone unrealistically chaste?
That said, it would be nice if there was more media out there with both substance and sex, and not just with games. Sure, sometimes an excuse plot is more than enough, but sometimes I actually want reason to care about the characters involved, and it can be rather annoying to be reading something with decently written romance, have a proper build-up to a make out scene that's implied or outright stated to lead to more, and then there's a fade-to-black or sudden scene change before the couple gets to the main event.

Re: Perverted Anime Games
i don't think they're inherently bad
fantasies and fan service are whatever, i just think they're good comedy material like
someone is actually turned on by balloon boobs or malnourished school girls that are 4ft tall
where the furry and anime boys at for me tho amirite, she says, no better, the lamby cougar *****... kinks what r u gonna do

Re: Perverted Anime Games
i could've sworn i saw at least one bara furry simulator out there.
as for jeff's comment, i really do feel like when it comes to this kind of stuff people tend to forget what it means to seperate fiction from reality.
some people won't understand why saying "you like 16 year olds in that anime game makes you a pedophile" isn't any different than saying "video games leads people to violence and causes them to kill."

Re: Perverted Anime Games
I mean, the reason I primarily play Japanese games over Western games is because I feel it offers a higher level of variety compared to the modern "AAA" offering of guns, guns, guns. Obviously I know not all Western games are like that, but I want to play RPGs, Monster Hunting games, platformers, AND FPS games. That being said, there's also the whole "let's cram microtransactions and loot boxes into every title we can" mentality that makes me buy more indie games from European or American devs, which do offer a ton more variety.
In regards to anime-specific games, let alone pervy ones, I don't see what the big deal is but I do recognise that I'm being pandered to. I don't think there's a problem with pervy anime games but I think having alternatives available for people who are inclined different in regards to sexual tastes is important. Sorta like that Dream Daddy game, I think? I tried Senran Kagura: Estival Versus and couldn't stand it, I thought it was really boring. That said, I understand why people would like it because the characters are hyper-sexualised, meaning the game can be considered pleasant to look at, to put it lightly.
I think it boils down to whether you think sexualisation of characters is a good or bad thing, whether you want more for both sides or where you want it censored. Or if you're indifferent, I guess.
